Christmas Student Guitar Concert – Rodotopi, Saturday, December 23, 2023, 6:00 p.m.

The now-traditional Christmas student guitar concert, organized by the “Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble” association, will take place in its hall in Rodotopi, featuring mainly young students who are in the early stages of learning the instrument.

The Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble traveled to Larissa on December 2–3, 2023, to take part in the 9th Panhellenic Meeting of Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras of Larissa.

The Ensemble participated with two of its groups (the Junior and the main ensemble), presenting respective musical programs and offering its members valuable performance experience.

The Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble presents to the public its new music video, filmed at the Kalogeriko Bridge of Zagori. The piece features an arrangement and performance of music by Clint Mansell from the film Requiem for a Dream.

Review of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble’s participation in the Ermoupolis Guitar Festival (July 6–11, 2023)

RGE, travelling to Syros island

One of the most memorable musical journeys of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble took place in July 2023 on the island of Syros, as part of its participation in the 29th Ermoupolis Guitar Festival. With the support of the Municipality of Zitsa, this appearance offered the opportunity for a local cultural initiative to reach the heart of the Aegean.

The Ensemble performed in several historic 19th-century buildings of distinct architecture, including a concert at the Ermoupolis Cultural Center, a rehearsal at the Velissaropoulos Mansion (Cyclades Labour Center), and participation in the festival’s closing concert at the emblematic “Apollon” Theatre of Ermoupolis.

Window replacement process underway

In recent days, an important step was taken toward preserving a historic public building of Rodotopi—dating back to the Ottoman period—through the replacement of its old wooden windows, most of which had decayed and become unusable.

This building has housed the “Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble” association for the past 11 years. Its old windows, built around 50 years ago, were made of thin wood with single panes of glass and had developed multiple problems, including water leakage, difficulty in opening and closing, and frequent opening by the wind. Their replacement was carried out by the Municipality of Zitsa, following a formal request by the Ensemble.

Student Guitar Concert – Rodotopi, June 28, 2023

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., the annual student concert will take place in the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble hall, featuring mainly solo guitar works.

This year’s concert will also include four guitar duets and a performance by the Junior Guitar Ensemble, presenting orchestral arrangements of two well-known Greek songs.

Admission is free to the public.

The Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble is travelling to Syros island for the 29th Ermoupolis Guitar Festival (July 6–10, 2023)

The Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble is delighted and honored to participate in one of Greece’s leading guitar festivals—the 29th Ermoupolis Guitar Festival—following an invitation from Artistic Director Angelos Nikolopoulos.

The Ensemble will travel to Syros combining music and summer leisure on the cosmopolitan island of the Cyclades, renowned for its magnificent architecture and beautiful beaches.

Review of the 6th National Meeting (2023) of Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras in Ioannina

Another musical celebration, the 6th National Meeting of Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras of Ioannina, was successfully concluded at the “V. Pyrsinellas” Hall on Saturday, January 21, 2023, with the participation of nine musical institutions from seven cities across Greece, bringing together approximately 200 musicians.

As with the five previous meetings, the event was co-organised by the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble (RGE), the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ioannina, and the Municipality of Zitsa.

Election Results of February 4, 2023 for the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble

Below are the results of the elections of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble (RGE) for the appointment of the Board of Directors (BoD) and the Audit Committee for the years 2023–24. The elections were held remotely and electronically on February 4, 2023, via the Zeus Elections platform.

The elections of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble (RGE), as defined by its Statute, for the appointment of a new Board of Directors (BoD) and Audit Committee, will be conducted electronically and remotely on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 09:00 to 19:00, via the Zeus Elections platform, through a personal link that will be sent to each member’s email address.

It should be noted that the “Zeus” voting software is provided by the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET), a supervised body under the Ministry of Digital Governance, ensuring the legality, integrity, and secrecy of the voting process.

The 2023 Vasilopita (Cake) Cutting and General Assembly of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble

On the afternoon of Sunday, January 29, 2023, immediately after the rehearsal of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble, the traditional cutting of the Vasilopita for 2023 took place, attended by members and friends of the association. The scheduled General Assembly also followed, including the Activity and Financial Report for the years 2021–2022, in view of the statutory elections for the appointment of a new Board of Directors and Audit Committee.

The Vasilopita was offered for the third consecutive year by the President of the Rodotopi Community and RGE member, Ms. Sotiria Kaznesi, to whom RGE expresses its gratitude.

Cutting of the Vasilopita & General Assembly – 2021–22 Biennial Report of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble, Sunday 29/1/2023

The Board of Directors of the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble (RGE) invites all its members, friends, supporters, children and their parents to attend the cutting of the 2023 Vasilopita, which will take place on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., in the ensemble’s hall in Rodotopi, immediately after the rehearsal.

Following the Vasilopita cutting, a General Assembly will take place, including a brief overview and report of the activities of the 2021–22 biennium, as well as information regarding the elections that will be held one week later via remote electronic voting.

6th National Meeting of Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras in Ioannina – Presentation of Participants

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at “V. Pyrsinellas” Hall in Ioannina, starting at 5:30 p.m., the 6th National Meeting of Guitar Ensembles and Orchestras in Ioannina will take place.
As with the five previous editions, the event is co-organised by the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble (RGE), the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ioannina, and the Municipality of Zitsa.

The 6th Meeting follows a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and features ten participating musical institutions from across Greece — primarily guitar ensembles and orchestras from music schools and conservatories.
