Thanks for the new August - October 2016 donations to the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble

From the end of summer until mid-autumn 2016, our association was offered a series of sponsorships involving significant amounts of money. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the members of our Guitar Ensemble, we thank the donors for their trust in our work. We commit, with absolute transparency as always, to utilize these funds in the best possible way, after assessing our needs and keeping the development of the association's infrastructure as our guiding principle.
In particular, we thank:

• Ms. Maria P. Papadiamantis and her father, Mr. Panagiotis D. Papadiamantis (who have been supporting our association with repeated donations from its founding until today)
• Ms. Athina Thoma (spouse of Anastasios Thomas)
• Mr. Leandros Spartiotis (creator of, among other works, the "Water and Dream Opera" in Preveza)
• Mr. Jim Holland (a British Philhellene living in Lefkada)
• Everyone who contributed financially on the day of our concert in Rodotopi on August 28, 2016.

At the same time, we want to emphasize that it is a great honor for our Guitar Ensemble that certain people allocate money in the form of a donation to support the work of our association. For all of us—the Board of Directors, the ensemble participants, and other members—who believed in the potential to develop an alternative proposal for the realities of our region, a proposal that we expect to have clear spiritual, pedagogical, and cultural characteristics, the meaning of these donations is much more than financial. For us, donations are a validation of the effort and hard work put into building an organization which, with music at its center, aspires to contribute to the enrichment and spiritual uplift of the residents of our wider region, keeping in mind Plato's words that "music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." Furthermore, we believe that donations reflect the sensitivity, background, and mindset of the donors themselves, while today, taking into account the difficult economic circumstances our country is facing, they acquire even greater significance.

Additionally, it should be noted that these current donations come as a continuation of last year's donation of ten electro-classical guitars to our association by the Brotherhood of Rodotopians of Athens (an association of residents of the village of Rodotopi living in Athens), as well as two more guitars purchased with funds offered by Mr. Panagiotis D. Papadiamantis and his daughter, Ms. Maria P. Papadiamantis.
